How an IBC Tote Mixer Improves Liquid Blending Efficiency

Quickly mix and agitate high viscosity liquids, high solids or other chemicals in standard poly IBC tank containers, bag-in-box and stainless steel IBC tote storage containers using an air powered IBC tote mixer agitator. The non-mechanical IBC tote mixing process uses the same efficient large bubbler air/gas mixing process used in a 1-gallon paint shaker. The tote agitator mounts to the lid bung opening and delivers compressed air pulses into the IBC container creating huge flat air mixing bubbles that mix the tote contents and break down settled solids faster than mechanical or impeller type tote agitators. The Evolution of Mixing Equipment: Spotlight on EvenMix Blade Technology.

These tote mixers install inside the lid with a welded stainless steel tote bung adaptor that screws into the lid opening hole of the IBC tank. The tote agitator has multiple high-performance multi-impellers that create “up-pumping” agitation, eliminating vortexing and enveloping the liquid for thorough mixing. This unique, fast, vertical ‘bottom-up’ mixing action also shortens time to temperature in IBC tote tanks.

IBC tote mixers operate on clean, compressed air or gas and are safe to use in a wide range of environments including food and chemical applications. They are not a good choice for environments with flammable gases, vapors, or dust, where sparks from electric motors could pose a fire risk.

A key advantage of an IBC tote mixer is its portability. The agitator is lightweight and compact making it easy to transport between work stations, or when you need to move the mixer from one IBC tote to another for filling. It is easy to lift and lower using the handle on top, or with a forklift slotted forks on the flange. It can be mounted in a rack for mobile or stationary use, or in a drum trailer.

Many of the larger tote agitators require a separate, heavy-duty motor bridge mount that secures the mixer to the IBC tank, and a forklift is required to lift the IBC tote mixer on and off the bridge mount for transport and storage. Alternatively, smaller IBC mixers are designed to be portable and only need to screw into the IBC tank lid opening via a bung adaptor. They are a more convenient and affordable option for low viscosity tote mixing projects.
